Al-Ghazi Tractors Rolls Out Its 600,000th Tractor

From a single plant in Dera Ghazi Khan to powering fields across the country, AGTL’s latest milestone tells the story of four decades of Pakistani manufacturing.

Al-Ghazi Tractors Limited (AGTL) has crossed a defining threshold in its journey, producing its 600,000th tractor at the same Dera Ghazi Khan facility where the company first began operations more than 40 years ago. The milestone unit—a Ghazi 640, one of the brand’s most trusted workhorses—rolled off the assembly line as a symbol of the company’s deep-rooted contribution to Pakistan’s agricultural backbone.

A Legacy Built in Dera Ghazi Khan

What began in the early 1980s as a modest manufacturing setup has grown into one of the country’s most established tractor producers. For more than four decades, the Dera Ghazi Khan plant has steadily scaled its output, building tractors designed for the realities of Pakistani farms—rugged terrain, demanding crop cycles, and the everyday needs of small and mid-sized growers. Reaching 600,000 units is more than a number; it’s a reflection of consistency, trust, and a long-term commitment to local industry.

Local Manufacturing at Scale

A defining feature of AGTL’s growth story is its commitment to local manufacturing. Today, over 92% of components used in its tractors are produced within Pakistan, supporting a wide ecosystem of domestic vendors, engineers, and skilled workers. This localization not only strengthens the country’s industrial base but also ensures that spare parts, servicing, and aftersales support remain accessible and affordable for farmers across the value chain.

Powering Pakistan’s Farms

The Ghazi 640, chosen as the milestone tractor, has long been a staple in fields from Punjab to Sindh and beyond. Backed by AGTL’s nationwide dealer and service network, the brand has built a reputation for reliability—an essential quality in regions where mechanization can mean the difference between a good harvest and a missed one. As Pakistan’s agriculture sector continues to modernize, demand for durable, locally built machinery remains central to that transition.

Looking Ahead

The 600,000-tractor milestone positions AGTL not just as a manufacturer, but as a long-term partner in Pakistan’s agricultural future. With ongoing investments in technology, dealer expansion, and farmer engagement, the company is well placed to support the next phase of mechanization—helping growers improve productivity, reduce costs, and build more resilient farming livelihoods for years to come.
